Wedge International – Locking bar holders

Wedge International™ – Locking bar holders

For most types of cargo in intermodal containers

The International Wedge of Grönheit & Weigel is suitable for 2 x 6" beam or 4 x 4" beam or two connected 2 x 4" beams.
The International wedge increases the retention forces of the locking bar and prevents the locking bar from slipping.

Optical theft protection:

A quick glance and you can detect a theft or a manipulation of the cargo immediately.

Saves time and money

The use of expensive wooden structures is eliminated.

Suitable for the following modes of transport:

  • – intermodal Container

Specially made for mounting in the indentations of the container wall.

  • User manual

For best results, please read through all instructions prior to installation.

    1. Prepare the surface.

After loading the cargo, determine the best location for installation. This area should place the Wedges an equal distance from the floor, at a height that allows the beam to be in contact with the freight and to stop the load from starting to move. The entire application area must be clean and dry to ensure proper installation.
Using a dry cloth, wipe off all loose dirt and dust from the application area.

    Drawing 1 prepare the surface

    2. Apply International Wedge to the wall.

Remove the backing from one Wedge and place it in the desired application area on the wall. Place the second Wedge in the application area on the opposite wall.

    3. Determine size of beam to be used.

    You may use either a single 2 x 6", a single 4 x 4" or two 2 x 4" beams joined together as a replacement for the 4 x 4". We do not recommend that you use a single 2 x 4" with the International Wedge.

    3a) Using a 4 x 4" beam or two 2 x 4" beams nailed together

Measure, as shown in the figure, the path between the first International Wedge and the second International Wedge.
The label attached on the outside marks the cut lines to every employable beam. In the picture you see two cut lines:
Left (blue cut line): refers to the use of 4 x 4" beam or two connected 2 x 4" beams
Right (red cut line): refers to the use of 2 x 6" beam
The beam can be tailored exactly to the measured length.

    3b) Use of beams 2 x 6"

Measure, as shown in the figure, the path between the first International Wedge and the second International Wedge.
The label attached on the outside marks the cut lines to every employable beam.

    Note when using 2 x 6" beam:

For a perfect fit of the 2 x 6" beam cut a 1" triangle from the beam.

    4. Insert the beam.

    4a) 4 x 4" beam or two connected 2 x 4" beams.

Place one end of the 4 x 4" (or joined 2 x 4" with nail heads facing up) into the pocket of the first Wedge and rest the opposite end of the beam at the top of the ramp on the second Wedge.

    Drawing 4a. Insert the 4 x 4" beam or two connected 2 x 4" beams

    4b) 2 x 6" beam.

Position the cut corner of the 2 x 6" downward toward the floor of the trailer and insert it into the pocket of the first Wedge. Rest the other end of the 2 x 6" on the top of the Wedge ramp located on the opposite wall.

    5. Complete Application.

The beam lying diagonally contributes now to the second International wedge.

    6. Trailer walls will be pushed outward.

Proper installation will result in trailer walls expanding outward slightly, as shown at right. When installed correctly, the force and pressure of the 2 x 6" exerted against the Wedge generate an exponential effect of shear strength to the tape backing of the Wedge, making the total unit extremely strong. In addition, the utilized hightech adhesive disproportionately increases the restraining forces of the Wedge International.
